Parkersburg WV Fire Today: State of Emergency Declared as Firefighters Battle Massive Warehouse Blaze

Parkersburg WV Fire Today:  A massive warehouse fire continues to burn at the Peoples Cartage industrial facility on Camden Avenue in Parkersburg, West Virginia, prompting a large-scale emergency response and a State of Emergency for Wood County. The blaze, which reignited after an earlier fire at the same location, has drawn firefighters from multiple departments as crews work around the clock to contain flames and prevent further spread.

Thick black smoke has been visible across much of the Parkersburg area, leading officials to issue a precautionary shelter advisory for nearby residents. Emergency management officials have urged people in affected neighborhoods to remain indoors, keep windows and doors closed, and monitor official updates while air quality is continuously assessed. Environmental agencies are conducting ongoing air monitoring due to elevated particulate levels.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. Investigators will examine how the blaze started, why it reignited, and the extent of damage to the warehouse once conditions are safe. Officials warn that extinguishing remaining hotspots could take several days because of the size of the facility and the materials stored inside.

Road closures and increased emergency vehicle traffic remain in effect near the site. Residents are asked to avoid the area and follow directions from local authorities as firefighters continue suppression efforts. Additional updates are expected as the investigation progresses and emergency officials provide further information on recovery operations.
